Book: Im Osten der Senf, im Westen die Kohle

This book is based on a true story and describes the life of my grandfather, who studied veterinary medicine at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1953 to 1957. Many years later, he told me the story of his life in the divided Berlin: the difficulties as a student in the SED regime, watching movies in cinemas that were not yet fixed after second world war, his exploratory trips to the American sector and finally his escape to West Germany. I captured his stories in a picture book for adults, which was nominated for the Hamburger Bilderbuchpreis in 2021.
